Hi ,
I am a mum of 2 year old boy. We have started researching primary schools for him in Harrow - he will turn 4 in Aug'17 (yeah-summer baby!). Can you please recommend good private and state schools in the area?

Orley, Reddiford, Alpha , Quainton, Buckingham -can you please share your feedback?

Also, can you please share what are the factors that one should keep in mind while selecting a school?

Thank you for your help!

Regards,
a worried mom

A lot of the state schools in Harrow are very good but it really depends on where you live. Which state schools are closest to you?

We are close to Harrow on the hill and are open to move to be close to a good school and preferably close to Met Line (Dh works in the City). Closest to us currently are Quainton, Alpha and Norbury. I am a bit apprehensive of Quainton because it goes upto 13 and they don't share their 11+ results and hence don't seem focused on it. Alpha appears cozy and maybe a bit too small and academic and hence I am unsure if it is worth the money. No feedback yet on Norbury. I am going to try to visit these schools to get a feel for them but would love to hear any first hand feedback on these schools or others (Reddiford, Pinner Park, Buckingham, Longfield). Welcome ideas!

Pinner Park and Longfield both good State schools. There are also two new primary schools being set up in Harrow, here and here

Visit as many schools as you can. Don't just go to open days, go to Christmas products, fetes etc. You'll then see if the school is your kind of place and be able to see the school engagement with the community etc.

As well as famous and not so famous public schools, Harrow has a number of good state schools and as FiveHoursSleep says more will open by the time your son needs a place.

Blimey, I went to Reddiford waaaay back in the day! How weird to see it mentioned on MN. No idea what its like now. My mum still lives round there and most of the DC she knows go to West Lodge which I gather is very good. Nower Hill for secondary.
