School uniforms that aren't polyester or viscose

Hi all,

My daughter is about to start school and suffers from eczema.

I can't seem to find any school uniform (pinafore, skirts, etc) in the shops that's not polyester or viscose, or even polycotton. I think organic cotton is probably best for her as I want her to be comfortable, but I don't even know where to start looking – online probably it seems.

Does anyone know where I can get organic cotton school uniforms?

Thanks for your help in advance.

There are shops online that do only organic/eczema friendly clothing, a quick search will find them.

I shopped online at M&S and found all-cotton polos and jersey pinafores. I got the tights from John Lewis as I don't like M&S's tights.

Tesco polos are 100% cotton. Loads of Jersey stuff in supermarkets

You could try www.ecooutfitters.co.uk/. I don't have any personal experience of their clothes but I do have a pair of trousers on order. V depressing that most shop uniforms seem to be polyester etc and don't look particularly good either.

I just checked and Tesco's F&F Jersey pinafores are 65% Polyester, 33% Viscose, 2% Elastane, so unfortunately not what I'm after, but I'll check out the others. Thanks again!

Have a word with the school - DD wore white shirts under her pinafore dresses instead of polos, I found pinafores we have one of these but DD comes out looking so very wrinkled (I look like the uncaring scruffy parent!) and they are hell to iron, we didn't bother with skirts at all. Tights were our nightmare thing as they irritated behind her knees regardless of what they were made of so we kept to long socks DD wasn't too bad with thinner pinafore dresses as long as she had a 100% cotton shirt underneath.

John Lewis do 100% cotton summer dresses when you get to that stage.

M&S have a range of cotton things (search skin kind on their website, not always in shops). Have had shirts and trousers/shorts from John Lewis, assume they'd do girls' too uniform too (sometimes in shops even if not on website?), we found theirs the best quality and no more expensive. Cotton polos are easy, many shops do 100% cotton versions or just all of the polos are. Sweatshirts some colours easier than others. PE shorts JL again, depending on colour I've seen them other places too.

For organic I think we're talking online. Does it really make a difference? I'm very sensitive to even poly-cotton myself, but couldn't tell organic from non.
