Reception - when did you find it all kind of settled down?

Sorry, banging on about reception a lot today!

Interested to know how long it took until it all felt...well, not new and unknown. Suppose what I mean is the playground still feels awkward and bit intimidating (I mean with regard to mums, not kids, I hasten to add)...

God, I am such a drip! Sorry.

DS is in yr 2 and I still feel confused quite often about how the school works.

As for other mums, wouldn't know where to start! But I guess I got used to them after about a year. hth

I guess we were lucky as there were several birthdays early in the school year so i got to meet other Mums there very quickly. Dd found some good friends quickly too so play dates were arranged early again helping getting to know other mums.

I also did lots of research on the net and learnt about the foundation stage profile, stepping stones etc so i knew what was supposed to be happening, so no unknowns to contend with there either.

It can be difficult if the other Mums have older children as they already know a lot of other people and it is hard to 'break' into an established group, but again there is very little of that in dd's year.

this year (ds in YR) is a dream as I know loads of info from last year, ds was in nursery so already knew some parents and all the parents are just lovely.
