reports: levels without subdivisions

Just to ask: Y3, reports given. Graded A, B, C (as in old fashioned A, B and C grades) and also given an NC level number, either 2, 3, 4 or 5. No subdivisions (a,b,c) were given. So my child was given all As on report card, and then in the NC level part of the report was given all 3s.

Not sure how helpful this is, given that child got all 3s in Y2 Sats. Has my child progressed? How can I tell without sub-levels?

Should I worry. Should I care.

You need to ask what the 3s actually mean given that National Curriculum levels no longer exist ( haven't been replaced by a national measure - schools are free to adopt own system ). Given your child is in Y3 the 3s could relate to Y3 expectations but only the school can tell you.

Same here. Found them nigh on meaningless. We are asked to comment on the reports in the return slip, so I politely said this. teacher approached me and she says she'd email me sub-divisions. She didn't.

Was there a letter of explanation sent out with the report? What an A means etc. As levels have now gone, it would make more sense if the '3' were to refer to the stage of the new curriculum your child is working at (generally stage equates to year group though certainly not always) and the A would signify that your daughter is secure in 'x' element of the stage 3 curriculum.

However, if you haven't been given any further information to explain your school's own particular way of tracking then this could be complete rubbish! The only people able to give you a correct answer is your own child's school.
