getting child into a school?

we may be moving but every school ive phoned has places for my 6 year old but not 5 year old.theres all county primary schools.what can i do,any suggestions?

Once you have one accepted the other might get sibling priority for any places that come up. You may have to accept an alternative school in the emantime but even then you may need to be living locally (or at least have signed a lease or exchanged contarcts) before they can offer you one.

thankyou,so if i put the 6 year old down.what if we move there and theres still no place?can they just say no?theres 3 schools in area none with a place but he has to go to school!?

who would i get advice from ,local education authority?

The LEA are obliged to find you provision somewhere - but you may have kids in separate schools or have to compromise on where to send your 6 yr old. You could contact the Admissions Dept at the LEA to see where they think there may be a space.
