Hand writing and spelling tests after year 1

When do most primary schools start spelling tests?

My dd is so used to her phonics methods of self spelling that she is now quite hard to turn onto learning how to spell things properly! It's a bit of a drag.

Also handwriting. Are there any resources which are right for the national curriculum?

We don't have spelling tests but we do teach children how to spell correctly

There isn't a standard handwriting style (ours is unique to the school as based on ex deputy heads handwriting) so always best to check with the school
