My Son starts school in September and would someone explain to a complete numpty what I am to expect assessment wise? How do they assess where they start and do they have formal assessment in reception. Where can I look to get this information, just interested really.
Thank you in advance

www.gov.uk/government/publications/2010-to-2015-government-policy-school-and-college-funding-and-accountability/2010-to-2015-government-policy-school-and-college-funding-and-accountability#appendix-2-reception-baseline-assessment provides the background to the assessment process in Reception. Which schme is used depends on the school but there should, in theory, be little difference between this year and last, children have always been assessed on entry to Reception. The process is just reported this year. it certainly shouldnt be a formal test!
