Grade system confusion. U.S. VS U.K.?

We have been using American site like Khan Academy, and I thought YR2=Grade1. But somewhere we saw YR2=grade3.
I have been educated outside UK , so it's even more confusing!
Can someone please help me?!

yr2 is approx grade1. However maybe they are applying their own system?

You are correct. Year 2s are children who have their 7th birthday between September and the following August of that academic year. The system in Scotland is different and call it P3.

It depends. If you want your 7yo to practice material that 7yo American kids do - than yes, you need to match grades to chronological age.

However, if you are looking for material that is at the level of Y2 7yo - to provide extra practice, stretch them, etc., than you need to look at higher grades.

UK kids start school earlier and follow a different program. High achieving Y2 would be at the level of Grade 2-3 of the U.S. Program.
