When does new uniform season start?

DD1 is going to YR this september.

Assuming I should be getting summer dresses for the start of autumn term, I'm looking at this one in yellow

There are hardly any sizes still in stock. Only the really tiny and the really large. (I assume the older girls don't want gingham dresses). This is the only one in zip in M&S. I could get the button up ones still. Debenham still has DD1 size with zip but low stock.

Question is. Should I get them now before they run out for good? Or has the new season hasn't come in yet?

Surely they can't be wearing pinafore and long sleeved shirts in Sept? I'm feeling so hot at the moment.

Luckily our uniform is very loosely applied. No rules about when summer dresses can be worn - wear with boots and tights if they want Girls wear trousers if they want. Logo stuff optional

In my experience the high street shops tend to have offers on uniform in July, these offers tend to finish by August. They then seem to sell out of most sizes by mid August, which is when most parents would prefer to start buying uniform. After a couple of frantic summer holidays struggling to find uniform in the sizes I needed, I now try to buy all the uniform before we finish in July. It's really nice to not have it hanging over you during the holiday.

DS wore his shorts in year R well into October so I disagree with those saying you won't get the wear out of s summer dress buying it for autumn. I think you will & it'll fit at Easter. 5yr olds don't grow THAT quickly.

My dd's wears her summer dresses all year round.

I buy uniform when I start to consider her dress a bit short. There is always someplace selling the stuff.

Our school can wear summer uniform Easter to October.

DD2 will be wearing dresses in September as I have her sister's old ones.
