Labels for clothes!

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before...I'm a newbie to primary school, eldest starting Reception in September, have been warned to label everything from shoes to vest. For pre-school, I wrote on the care instructions tag with a Sharpie and that did start to bleed a bit, so would be unclear for her to read. Also, cheapskate that I am, I am hoping my youngest will inherit these uniforms one day so I'd like to be able to replace the labels eventually. There seems to be a million labels companies out there - any suggestions? Especially for shoes?!

I have always used Easy2Name they have been great.

I have a stamper from stamptastic. It is genius and labels clothes and anything they might want to take for show and tell! I've tried just about every type of name label going and IMO it's the best by far.

I use Easy2Name sticky labels for water bottles, lunch boxes etc, with the shoe label covers for shoes. However I never found the iron on ones that successful so go old school and use Cash's woven name tapes for clothes. Really doesn't take more than a couple of minutes to sew one on in front of the TV, they don't come off or fade, and it makes me feel like my mum. And then I take them off easily to replace for younger siblings' tapes, and reuse the name tapes again and again.

We have an uncommon surname and the only way that there would be more than one family with the name in the school would be if my brother in laws family moved to the area. That means that we label everything with just our surname and I don't have to relabel anything for DD2.

Easy2Name labels with the covers are the best solution that we have found for shoes. Though a sharpie on the inside top edge of a wellyboot works fine.

Agree with sharpie pen to write names on uniform... No chance of people cutting name labels out

mynametags for stick on labels - which go on care labels, shoes, book bags, water bottles, everything apart from directly onto fabric (which is not an issue unless you dont get a care label on the neck of jumpers/polos/shirts)

I use iron on ones off eBay I think I got 50 for about £2 they have lasted the whole year.

I just used the second name as I have a younger one to pass onto aswel!

Easy2Name sticky labels are brilliant. I use them plus a laundry marker, then some tag things on the really important stuff. Sometimes a combo of sticker in the neckline for DCs' benefit, and a tag in the laundry label, for coats and jumpers that would cost a bit to replace.

Mynametag. You can put surname and a picture on so can tell what's yours. Iron on or stick on of both- if put on the properly they never ever come off

Brilliant thank you ladies :) and I just read elsewhere that someone was labelling socks - really?! Do you need to label literally every stitch they'll wear? Where would you even put a a label in a sock?!

Buy labels that you can use for both kids - so if your children are Jane Smith and John Smith, get the label to say "Jane Smith, John" then you just cut off whichever bit you don't need and it either says Jane Smith or Smith, John

You can use mynametag iron on on socks and they don't budge but never needed to for regular socks. They are so cheap the socks are as cheap as the name label

For socks I twisted two bits of different colour thread and sewed it into the socks.
