It seems like a 'good' report, although its now 4 years old. Can you have a quick look and tell me what you think? I've really no idea what I am doing.

sounds like a very good school. have you had a look round to get a feel for the place?

MrsBadger · 14/11/2006 11:36

Sounds fine to me, though I'd like to see the most recent inspection data (guess they were done in 2006 so it's not yet online) - bet the school'd give you a copy if you asked.
Have you been and had a look round? What did you think of the atmosphere?

FWIW Worcesters had a good rep when I was in the area, but that was a looong time ago.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/11/2006 11:39

I wanted to have a look around - but have to postpone until beginning of January as DD has a Paed appointment booked for this months 'show around' that I have waited a while to get.

All applications in my area are due in by 31st and its not first come first served so its fine in that respect.

That made no sense did it? DD has a paed appt booked at the same time as this months show around.

veni cant you ask for a 'private showaround', im sure the school wont mind, also, its best to get the application in by the stated date as they might close the door to any applications after that date

It's hard to read Ofsted reports - have to read between the lines a bit - but I think that table on p7 is very significant (performance compared with similar schools). "Attainment on entry" is at a level below national averages, but their Y6 attainment is above, so they are really bringing the children on (the value added table in the BBC page shows that they're still doing that).

Their SATs results are above national and local averages too, and to do that with such a large proportion of children from non-English speaking homes is very impressive.

Have you heard anything about the school from parents whose children are already there?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/11/2006 13:46

Yes, I have spoken to other parents (dont know many), and most say it is good but they have much older children. Most with children DD's age, that dont have older children are looking to get their child into the local CofE and RC Schools which are apparently the best two in the area. I'm not even going to bother trying - I have read the selection criteria.

Well, I had interpreted the same as you guys have then. Thank you for clarifying that entry level thing JanH. I wasnt sure if that was what was meant.

Tinkerbell - the cut off date for applications for all schools in the area is 31st Jan 2007. I dont think I will trouble them for a private show around - I think teachers and school staff are probably busy enough

Thanks lockets

I feel happier about it all now. I was feeling quite daunted by it.

Also it sounds like a nice school, QV - all those parts about tolerance, inclusion, respect, politeness, behaviour, attitudes etc - at least as important as test results.

Is it still the same Head?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/11/2006 17:23

I think so.....it seems to be the same name as the one mentioned when I phoned the school this morning. However, DS was screeching at me at the time because he likes to say "hello" to whoever is one the phone.....
