Hello, has everybody received at least something from their child's primary school? I don't know which date dd starts or hours... Anything really. Nothing on website. All I had was the email from the council on 16 April.

My work is asking me as I have requested a change of hours.

Have you not had to go in to school and show birth certificate / proof of address?

It may be they are sending stuff out straight after half term. If it were me I'd ring after 10am on Monday and a) check they are expecting your DC, and b) ask when info will be sent.

If you need to know work hours, also ask when your child will be full time, some start everyone off full time straight away, at some schools pupils aren't all full time until half term.

Ours have only just sent out a letter. It looks as though they posted it just before the half-term holiday.

The letter didn't include any information about start dates though (just the date for a meeting for parents), so in your position I would phone the school and ask them.

Twistedheartache · 28/05/2015 13:08

Nothing here either. I know a friend has already had a meeting at the next school along. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
If you need to know for work ring them on Monday or Tues if inset day on Monday

PureMorning · 28/05/2015 14:29

Info comes out in June at ds2's future school. And it has parents info night first week of july

addictedtosugar · 28/05/2015 14:38

Nothing here.

If you are after generic term dates, our council website has them for the whole county.

I'm sure if you rang up the school, and asked for start and finish times, you would get them. Individual start dates may not have been determined yet.

I'm sure they are expecting yuor daughter!

In some authorities, the closing date for acceptance was just last week and this wk is half term. So, not unusual.

Sizzlesthedog · 28/05/2015 15:24

Nothing for me, but a friend in a school a mile away has a bundle of info.

strawberrytablecloth · 28/05/2015 15:28

I was in this position last year & getting really frustrated! We got a letter straight after half term (so next week) inviting us to a meeting in early July at which point we found out when they started & what their settling in pattern was. Do you know anyone with children at the school? Schools don't tend to vary what they do year on year.

Pico2 · 28/05/2015 15:39

We've got a letter with dates for a parents' meeting and two afternoon sessions for the children. We go the letter a couple of weeks ago.

ShadowFire · 28/05/2015 16:12

We got a letter last week with dates for going to visit the school towards the end of the summer term, plus an order form for getting school uniform. Nothing about term dates.

Also, round here, you're only asked to provide proof of address if your DC have been offered a place at an oversubscribed school.

Bunnyjo · 28/05/2015 22:11

We've had nothing from the school, yet. But, as DD is in Year 3 at the same school and DS attend their nursery, I'm not worried.

I doubt there will be settling sessions, as DS will be in the same class as now with the same teaching staff. We also have parents' evening in July with the HT (who happens to be a teaching head and the teacher in that class), so I know there will be ample time to talk over an concerns we may have we have none.

The only information I am waiting on is regarding the part-time starts the school prefer to do - they school usually starts back on a Wednesday and the reception class do half days for that week followed by full-time the following week, but school term starts on a Monday this year, so there will be a change.

Notrightnowww · 28/05/2015 22:12

I'm In Scotland so we start school mid Aug and only got letters last week re a date to meet the teacher and which class kids were in (3 form intake).
Info about start dates, which teacher etc will be given at that session which is mid-June (a week before schools break up here).

timeforacheckup · 28/05/2015 22:13

We had a welcome letter the day after the places came out and a welcome meeting the following week. We've got a date for the home visit and school visit sessions start after half term.

manchestermummy · 29/05/2015 13:18

Why not call the school? I had to and my older child already attends the school in question! They'd sent an email that had ended up in spam. The information about start dates was ambiguous so I queried that too.

Sadly, you do sometimes have to do rather a lot of leg work to find stuff out. Our school has got lots better in the last couple of years but there are still times when I have to check!
