How much movement on waiting lists?

I know this is a question that can't be given a clear answer but looking for any experience.

DD is currently 7th on waiting list for preferred school, school is in London.

How much movement can realistically be expected for a London school between now and September?

Any advice/experience welcome. TIA.

I cant speak for schools in london, but waiting lists in our area change on a weekly basis. My son's on the waiting list for two schools, i phone weekly and his position on the waiting list has changed every time. He has gone up the waiting list for one school and gone down the other and the following week vice versa. The admissions team did warn that there is a lot of movement.

All you can do, is keep checking!

Thanks tulip. It's so frustrating isn't it? Im trying to be realistic about our chances but stay hopeful at the same time. Good luck to you, hopefully your preferred place comes up soon.

We got offered our 2nd choice today! We were 2nd on the waiting list the day after outcome day and had put appeals in for both 1st and 2nd choice schools (we weren't offered any of our three choices) but obviously going to accept our 2nd choice and cancel appeals now. So there is movement. Good luck!

Im going to call again on Monday to check our position.

It really depends on what part of London you are in as well. We have a lot of movement around here but in some parts there's very little.

Hi, I applied have moved and have had to apply late with the new LEA. Got the waiting list yesterday and DS is

First pref - 3rd
2nd pref - 39th
3rd pref - 11th.

We are 0.3 miles from first pref school. Currently DS hasn't been allocated a school place for September yet.
