Locating a fun and inventive maths tutor

My sensitive year 4 daughter struggles with basic maths concepts such as number bonds, measuring, weighing etc. She has not been identified as having special needs, simply that she lacks confidence. I have zero interest in pushing my child to gain wonderful exam marks. I simply want her to feel more confident in herself and want her to feel less scared of Maths. I therefore don't think a typical 'tutor' is what I am looking for, but think that an external person helping her to approach Maths in a fun and imaginative way will help her to feel happier. She isn't keen to accept help from her parents! Many thanks for any thoughts.

Don't have any tutor recommendations, but as you mansions measuring and weighing - have you tried involving her in domestic tasks where those skills are used? Cooking, baking; measiring her height; comparing that with when she was a baby; counting her pocket money; buying and getting correct change, etc. All of that can help her without it being a math lesson.

Good luck!

DS has a maths tutor who is a Numbers Count primary teacher. DS had a problem with confidence and didn't seem to have fully understood some basic concepts. I don't know if this is typical but she plays loads of maths games with him - he is quite competitive in that way and it is what keeps him interested. The games are interspersed with some more 'normal' tutoring but most of it is learning through the games.

That is the approach which works with him but I assume she tailors it for each child. Maybe contact some tutors, talk to them and see how they work with different children. He really enjoys going, his confidence has increased and his understanding has increased.
