Aberdour V Chinthurst - surrey prep schools - advice needed

Hello!

We have a little daughter who we've decided to send to private school.

We've been looking around and these two are the best for where we live - Downsend is out!

I've fallen for Chinthurst but Aberdour is a easier to get to.

I'm keen to hear from parents who have made the choice. Ultimately we are hoping for Epsom but that's a way down the line.

Any advice warmly welcomed.

IIRC the most popular private school in the area is (from 7, selective) City of London Freemens

I don't think you need to splash out on a prep school to make it into Epsom College. Save your money or set your target a bit higher!

My nephew went to Aberdour and it didn't serve him very well. I know people at chinthurst who are very happ. So on that basis alone I would choose chinthurst.

Duck - I guess I will look at the city of London but at the mo we need to be sorted from 3.

Suttonmum - where do you suggest we look? We are new to the area so I guess I reviewed places that I were near and all the leavers seemed to go to russell group universities so I thought Epsom was good?

There are pre preps in the area I think. Preps won't prep at school for 7+ as they want DC to stay til 11 or 13.

Hi, I too fell for Chinthurst (it has that effect!). I think it is unique in the area in what it offers ie small family atmosphere and focus on modern teaching with traditional values. I have been there for 5 years now and I have not been disappointed. My children are flying academically, are blissfully happy and its a nice atmosphere for parents too, no cliques etc. The nursery is outstanding, with a forest school I think weekly or fortnightly, swimming (with parent then lessons in reception) and lots more. My son joined Chinthurst last September (2014) and we have been exceptionally pleased with the school. He is always eager to go to school and has made some lovely friends. He attends lots of activities which are offered after school and plays many different sports which I think is so important for children of all ages.Couldn't recommend it highly enough.
