waiting list

We will automatically go down for the waiting list for our first choice when the lists open in a few days.

I was wondering how it works if a place comes up? How are you contacted and how long do you have to respond to an offer? We are going on holiday soon and don't want to miss out on the unlikely event of getting a place.

Hello,

My friend who was offered a place from the waiting list was called up by the LEA and given 5 working days to decide if they wanted it. This was after the school term had started though so not sure if that helps you.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Could you contact the LEA admissions team and tell them you're going on holiday and ask them to contact you via email? (Providing you have internet access where you're going on holiday. )

In our area, if a place comes up for a school higher up your preferences, you're automatically allocated it and you also automatically lose the place you originally had at the school you were allocated first. It's worth checking what the policy is in your area.

Cobo what area are you in? That's actually a bit scary as dd is on the lists for her 2 highest preferences but I am actually really coming round to the school we got. If she hot offered a place at one of the other schools it would be a tough decision and j would hate to think it would be out of my hands Confused

Excuse the typos!

For secondary we had 24 hours to decide whether to accept the place.

Some areas give it you automatically as others said and remove your original offer. In our area they call you to discuss what you want to do then send letter. You have 10 days I think to accept or stay where you are. I'd email the LA
