Maybe a silly question... Gender error in letter

This is probably completely inconsequential, but I'm just wondering if I need to do anything about it - can anyone who knows the system advise? Got our primary school offer letter through today, and DS is referred to throughout as "she". His name (an obviously male one) and everything else is correct. I'm assuming someone along the line, us or the council, ticked the wrong box for gender - should I just ignore, or call and tell someone? Does it matter?

If you have a convenient contact reference, or a person, on the letter I guess you could advise them. Or leave it, and only get it amended if it comes up wrong on the next communication from them.

Or maybe email the school concerned, if you can.

I would email or ring the school. They will be setting the classes soon and it would help them to know.

I'd definitely point it out - when dd1 started school they had the wrong date of birth! They really didn't mind me pointing out the error.

I think a call to the school office is the best bet. If you go via the LA, it will take longer, and the message may still not get across.

The school have probably twigged, especially if it is a total boy name like John. But politely follow it up.

I'd follow up, best to get it corrected before it ends up being copied into any other IT systems the local authority or the school is using.

Nowadays there are no 'obvious' male or female names. I sit on appeals and you would be amazed at what some children are called. Sorry, this is no help to you. Just ring the school.
