26 weeks in to the school term, 3 different awards per class per week (with some awards being duplicated if more than one child is deemed worthy), 29 children in the class. So a minimum of 78 awards per class given out in total so far this academic year.

Would you be slightly irritated if your child who "works hard consistently exceeding expectations, contributes brilliantly to the class and helps others when they've finished their own work" (quoted at parents evening) hadn't received a single award?

first world problem I know!

Is your child bothered?

Either the award is done on some sort of rota system (which IMO makes is a bit meaningless) or on the basis of the teacher choosing someone who has been particularly worth that week (which make is more meaningless, but does mean that the consistent and never particularly sticking out DC won't get one).

DS's teachers have recently been of the 2nd variety. Means he didn't get an award all Y5, but that his award in Y6 was particularly heralded.

DD's teachers seems to work on rota system. DD has worked it out and doesn't see any particular merit in getting one.

(disclaimer that if your child is Reception or Y1, the teachers ought to be doing a "every child gets something eventually" system!!).

Year 5 Blush and no DC isn't in the slightest bit bothered. I just needed a rant Grin
