School ties vs open neck shirts

DC's school is switching to their new summer uniform next week, of ties being optional for the summer term, but does an open neck shirt look silly with a v neck jumper? Shall I encourage DS (6) and DD (8) to wear them or not?

Open neck shirt looks fine with a v neck jumper.. I wear that combo all the time as do many guys now a tie is not always necessary.

Open-neck is fine with a jumper - and we are talking 6 and 8 years old here, not going to work in the City! Presumably once the weather gets warmer, the jumpers will be coming off anyway?

Yep of course I know we are talking children here, I was merely trying to say that plenty of adults wear that sort of thing so if the OP was worried on a fashion level then I don't see a problem.

Bottom line, it looks fine and if it's within the school guidelines it's doubly fine!

All three main party leaders were sporting that look only a week ago.

But surely as the weather gets warmer they will be able to leave the jumper off?

Another option is for an open neck shirt with loose tie. I'll wait to see what others wear on Monday.

About half the other kids have stopped wearing ties, and this number will probable go up as it gets hotter. My DC still chose to wear them this morning
