Farringtons School and religious affiliation

Hello,

I am interested to hear from anyone with experience with this school. I am interested in enrolling my two sons there (reception and year 2), but I have some concern about the degree of religious education/influence in the school. I appreciate that it is a christian (methodist) school, and I have no issue with my children being educated about religion, however, I would hope that they were exposed to all religions and that their own non-faith was accepted.

Can anyone share with me any thoughts on this.

Thank you.

I went there! Was (ahem) a while ago. I'm 36. I don't remember it being too forced down your throat (I'm atheist). However there was chapel every day (instead of other school's having assembly I guess) and 2-3 hours of chapel on Sunday mornings (I was a boarder). Also fish every Friday, I remember this as I hate fish. :) It was girls only when I was there.

I have fond memories of Farringtons.

Used to play against farringtons ( and Stratford house as it was known then !) could you not contact the school And ask them directly what the religious aspect of the school is

Religion is certainly not forced down their throats there, though the children do attend Chapel from time to time (juniors). We have not found it to be "in your face" at all and from our point of view has been of no concern. We were told by the school that relatively few of the children in the school will be from a Methodist background and that they welcomed everyone whatever their religious belief.

I can confirm beautifulgirls understanding is correct. Used to be a boarder there myself and was in other faith schools before Farringtons (I am not religious). I couldn't feel the faith issue even we were in the chapel...

Hello - we are planning to send our two boys into reception and yr2 in September and I got the impression that it has a Christian base with chapel etc but very open minded about other religions and indeed ethnically mixed - have you been to look round? Our boys may meet!!
