Another admissions query...

Ok - sorry to jump on admissions query bandwagon but could just do with help from your collective wisdom...

I would like my ds to go to the lovely local primary (doesn't everyone!) - have seen the school and it would be perfect. It is a faith school, with first priority given to regular worshippers at X church, then siblings... The catch is that whilst we do go to church we attend Y as dh is clergy there (hence the links... As it stands we are likely to get allocated Z school which is another faith and so wouldn't work... What can we do? We can't move (tied accommodation) have to go to X but really Z isn't a goer... Stressing me out already and another year to go!

I really don't see that there is anything you can do. That's what the admissions state and you can't change that. Is Church X the same religion as your church? Then I think your hubs is going to have to accept that that's the church you are going to be going to for a while. It isn't like you are faking religion to get in to a church school. You are changing the place you worship. So check though as the school may specify a length of time to stop people from just starting up in the year before (although you may be ok in that you can show regular attendance at your current church).

Agree - just change where you worship for a year. Not a lot else you can do...

If its C of E, which from your posting it probably is, then you simply move Churchs fir the duration as already suggested.

In the the C of E you are, by law, a parishoner of the Church in the parish you reside, but you can choose to be an "accustomed member" of any other parish - essential in the C of E where the liturgical practice can be so variable (!)

Thanks for your help - think we may end up with the madness of having to go twice on a Sunday (two completely different traditions so will be slightly fish out of water...) But there is a two year duration for qualification so may miss out :(

Kicking myself but didn't think before now - really don't know what we can do - can't even think of private on clergy stipend :(

If you would like to PM me the name of the school and the LA I will be happy to take a look at their admission criteria and other published information to see if I can help.
