Anyone else's child have Halloween Day at school?

We do. Ds has point blank refused to go in this afternoon (he's in a nursery attached to school).
He was in a funny mood all morning, and when I said nursery time he went into one. Turns out he's terrified of the masks he saw at school this am when dropping dd off. I knew he wouldn't dress up, but anyway I'm not forcing him to go and be scared and put him off for good.
Do you think its appropriate for school?

America terrifies me CFF

We're church school, so apart from burning heretics in the playground, we don't do anything for Hallowe'en.

We did. DS is 6 and the kids at his school were told they could turn up in fancy dress if they wanted. Most of the girls came as Snow White or Cinderella and there were a fair few Supermen and Mr Incredibles amongst the boys, nothing remotely scary. I was well p*ed off to find that all the kids had been given (and scoffed) party bags crammed with sweets. DS was on a massive sugar high and went totally bonkers. The school is usually pretty tough on sweets and junk food so I don't know what happened today to change their mind. Kids had a great time even if the parents suffered later though, shouldn't really complain I guess, I'm the world's biggest sweet eater
