place in yr 3 for child on waiting list?

my son is at the top of the waiting list for our local school. my daughter has just got a place in the reception class and starts in April. The y2 class is full but I have heard they can take more children on in key stage 2 as they can have more than 30.he would be in yr 2 at the moment. I can't seem to find anything on the Internet about it.

There is no limit on class sizes in Y3 and above so they can have more than 30 per class. However they don't have to move to larger class sizes. You will probably have to appeal if you want a place.
