We've left the project too late and everything I suggest to my ds (Y2) has already been done...

It's "chocolate" and they are reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" so any suggestions/ideas would be very welcome.

what's the brief?

Yangsun · 19/03/2015 13:38

What is he supposed to do? Make something? Write something? I'm not sure we can help you unless we know what sortof thing it should be.

Bar of chocolate with a golden ticket in it?
Report on the effects of chocolate on the brain?
Picture of the Aztecs enjoying the repulsive chocolate drink they used to drink?
A book made out of chocolate?

minionmadness · 19/03/2015 14:05

get him to make some chocolate truffles
recipe here
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/182606/chocolate-truffles

and then design a packet/box to put them in

Opopanax · 19/03/2015 14:21

How about researching some chocolate recipes, writing one out with illustrations, and making something to eat? He can share with his classmates and it's educational with weighing and measuring etc.

Opopanax · 19/03/2015 14:22

Cross post!

Collect some chocolate bar wrappers and get him to stick them on a sheet of paper in order of % cocoa content. A title and the figures written under each wrapper and done! He'll do it happily for the reward of eating the chocolate after. Wink

snice · 19/03/2015 14:48

think of 6 different chocolate bars/easter eggs
do a survey of friends/family re their favourite
make a tally chart
write a sentence saying which is the most/least popular

Assuming there are 30 children in the class, cut out 30 different raffle tickets (possibly made out of chocolate wrappers). On the inside of one, glue a golden ticket. The one that gets the golden ticket gets a bar of chocolate provided by DS.

minionmadness · 19/03/2015 16:30

Some good ideas... one that ds would very much enjoy Wink

Thanks everyone Smile

I'm assuming it's the IPC topic he's covering? I taught this, and also did CatCF at the same time in Literacy.

  • make a 3D version of the chocolate factory

  • collect different wrappers and make a collage

  • do a detailed, up-close drawing of a wrapper using a viewfinder

  • write his own version of an Umpa Lumpa song

  • write to Mr Cadbury / Wonka about healthy eating, and change the story to make it a healthier food

  • if you want to get heavy, do a project on fair trade
