Books to start practicing for CEM

Dd is in yr 4 so plenty of time. What are the best books to start with? I know you can't get CEM papers, but have no idea what sort of stuff will be included, CEM or otherwise. I did the 11 plus and remember looking at a tatty old book with verbal reasoning.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Will be trying for Colyton in east Devon and all I know about it is that have changed to CEM. Thanks x

The claim and the whole point of the CEM 11 plus is that it is supposed to be untutorable for. There are several practice books that claim to be CEM. A search of any on line book store will come up with plenty. The problem is that Durham who write the CEM exams adapt the paper to individual schools requirements, so CEM in Chelmsford may be totally different to CEM in Birmingham. I suggest you try the Devon section of 11 plus exams forum, as they may have information, but if it is the first year of CEM then it will be rather guess work.

Thanks v much for that. I guessed that there aren't any actual books for CEM itself, but wanted to get dd used to sitting and answering a paper full of questions. So maybe old style 11plus books would help with that? What would be good 'entry level'. We don't know anyone that has put their child through as not many people do around our way. X

DD done CEM 11+ test last September. We looked at some of the do called CEM books but they all seemed to be a lot harder then the test, or at least the CEM test in our area. I think the best way forward is to practice widely. Anyway as already suggested by someone, the 11+ forum will probably have some good advice for your local area..
