Bullying

My ds is being bullied at school. We've talked to his teachers many times and the parents of the kids are turning a blind eye. They refuse to believe their kids are anything less than perfect. We're looking to switch his school now but it's so stressful. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? It's so hard to watch your kid get hurt.

I found this article that made me cry. This woman is going through the same stuff I am. It's so awful. Why can't the schools just put a stop to this?

If it's at school, the parents aren't necessarily the best ones to have involved (although obviously it is BETTER if there is better discipline at home!).

What sort of things have happened?

If it's at school, then the parents' attitudes should be irrelevant. The school needs to deal with it. Even if the parents are totally on your side, they can't do a lot if it's at school.

I agree DeeWe. I've been dealing with the school a lot over the past few months but it hasn't gotten much better. The kids have just become better at hiding it.

I agree, PintofCiderPlease. The school needs to take a more head on look at bullying inside their gates. They say they've been dealing with it and yet kids are still kicking him when no one's looking and saying quite hurtful things. It's so sad that kids can be so mean.

If you've been to class teacher, take it to head, then the chair of governors. Read the school's anti bullying policy (should be on their website, if not, take them to task), and see if that gets results. Record dates, times and names. Have been impressed with DSS's school on the subject so far. There's always Parentview unless it's an academy - not sure how it works then.

Good luck!

Thanks BlueChampagne. I'll bring it to the head for sure. Here's hoping.
