which school shoes does your Y5 DD wear?

Please feel free to answer as well if your DD is roughly that age!
I was going to buy Clarks No-tie brogues but they have such terrible reviews!

My Y2 DD wears Clark's lace up brogues, they are great.

My DD has the lace up ones. They have lasted well and she finds them comfortable. They also cover a lot more of her foot than the Velcro strap ones so doesn't get as wet in the rain. they do get a clean with proper polish every week which I think helps protect them and last better.

Dds are the skylar eve design - lots new on eBay. Can't see them in Clarks now. More traditional brogue than the no lace ones.

Just looking at this as my Yr 4 girl is coming up to needing some new pairs! But she's still in a size 13, so about four sizes too small, and still in the traditonal Mary-Jane style.

This obviously doesn't help you at all!

Mine also has the lace up brogues, but to be honest I am fed up with the skimpiness of Clarks' girls shoes as compared to the sturdy boy versions. She was in these:

But I had to chuck them as she was getting ankle pain. The brogues seem to have mostly sorted it as she gets pain a lot less now. Compared to the boy versions with nice thick soles, plenty of support, not tied on with just a tiny strap etc, I think shoes like this:

My dd wears clarkes lace ups.
She doesn't attend school but uses them for orchestras and concerts where they need school shoes.
She likes the laces and they look good with skirts or trousers.

DD has worn dm lace ups since year 4 she's in year six now

My DD is vegetarian and won't wear leather, and we had a couple of years of buying pair after pair of synthetic school shoes which fell apart almost immediately (one pair I had to return after just 2 days wear). Someone on mumsnet recommended crocs and they've been fantastic - hardly any sign of wear after about 6 months, plus you can just wipe them over with a wet cloth and they look as good as new. Wonderful.

Start rite 'Mary Jane' style (not sure of product name!) size 4 1/2. They fit her well and last. Over the years she has had this style a few times!

Mary Jane's, currently Clarks and plan to until the end if primary. I think they still look lovely and they seem to withstand fairly vigorous football playing very well

Start rite Mary Janes for size 5.5 DD here too. Hardly anything goes up to that size, she has really narrow feet, refuses anything with bows, flowers etc and they have to be able to withstand a decent walk to school and football in the playground so nothing with flimsy soles, patent leather etc. She didn't like these when we got them but they were the only things that met the criteria (in our local towns) and they have impressively lasted since September. We will probably look for lace ups next time but usually the Clarks brogues look too flimsy. Will look at some of the above suggestions.

Shoe size 1. Wears Startrite Mary Jane style - think they are called 'Stone'
They are quite a 'young' style - 5 year olds would wear something similar in style....but my girl is keen on comfort. These shoes have lovely thick soles, nice leather linings and padding round the heel. Her school are strict on shoes and slip-ons etc wouldn't be allowed, although laces obviously would be fine.
I'm sure the day will come when she wants the latest fashion, but for now, she wants comfort.

From Year 4 to Year 8 ds has worn Start Rite Mary Janes in Samba or another cattle similar to Scissors which is now discontinued.

Dd is yr4 and a size 2 shoe. She's wearing dr marten Mary Jane style shoes think they are called maccy.

She scuffs them every day but they polish up fantastically.
