Help- reading and writing levels year 2

Hi

My son (year 2) has been given 2A for writing and 2B for reading in the interim school report. I thought that reading is usually better than writing generally. I will be meeting the teacher next week and will ask her about it. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Thanks

It's not compulsory for reading to be above writing, it is just a generalisation. There are some children for whom this is reversed ( and quite honestly, there is so little difference between a 2a and a 2b as to be pretty meaningless) so I wouldn't worry UNLESS there is a specific reason for it!

Children don't ALWAYS (if ever) conform to generalizations!

Just be grateful his writing is probably better than many of his peers, who may struggle with writing.

I don't mean to be rude, but it is really not worth fretting about at this stage. Try and relax, or you'll be a wreck by the time he gets to University.
