We live abroad right now and my DD in Year 4 attends an American curriculum school.

They have no idea on British authors! Anyways, just wondering if anyone knows what book your child had to study/read in class in say Year 2, 3, or 4?

Not want my DD to miss out on what's done in the UK.

Many thanks.

My children are in year 4 and studies Ted Hughes' The Iron Man earlier this year. They've just started Varjak Paw.

At home they love reading David Walliams, Roald Dahl and the Cressida Cowell dragon books. My favourite book that I've read to them as a bedtime story is The Boy Who Swam with Piranhas by David Almond.

The Year 4s at the school where I volunteer are reading Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Think the Year 5s are doing Stig go the Dump.

DD is in Year 3 and did Stig of the Dump in Autumn half term and now they do Mathilda.

Wind in the Willows and Farm Boy (Michael Morpurgo)

My DDs did Matilda and Charlotte's Web in year 3, Stig of the Dump and The Ghost of Thomas Kempe in Year 4.

I think DD did Charlie & The Chocolate Factory in Yr3, then some Michael Morpugo in Yr4?

Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo here in year 4

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a lovely book to study. It's quite tricky language but it has always made my class cry (in happiness!) at the end of it.

Other books I know we've done in KS2: How to Train Your Dragon, I Was a Rat (Philip Pullman), Flat Stanley, The Diary of a Killer Cat and Bill's New Frock (both Anne Fine), Krindlekrax, The Mousehole Cat... erm... then some that other people have mentioned, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Varjak Paw and Michael Morpurgo books.

Oh, and Anthony Browne books. We did a whole topic on his books.
