Hi everyone. I am going slowly crazy waiting to find out whether my DS will be able to go to KCJS in September. I thought I would post and see if I can garner any advice/words of support/know-how whilst I wait and wait and wait xx

I am now hoping that the fact that this thread is unanswered that it means that the 7+ Reserve List at KCJS is very small. You've got to take reassurance in this stressful process wherever you can ;)

I cannot help you but didn't want to leave your thread unanswered as I am also going through a long and slow application process (11+ in Paris) and know how excruciating it is! Hold tight!

shoutymcshoutsmum · 01/02/2015 09:19

Thanks Bonsoir. It's a very lonely process - my DH finds it boring and doesn't want to talk about it and I don't mention any of it to my DS because I am trying to protect him from the whole thing. Good luck in Paris .

If I were you I'd e-mail them and ask what number you are on the wait list. My DS didn't get in but they were very helpful when I asked for feedback and replied straightaway with his scores and advice on whether applying next year would be realistic.

Also lots of boys will have applied to WUS and CC too and got offers from more than one so the list should move quite a lot next Thurs when the deadline for acceptances arrives.

shoutymcshoutsmum · 01/02/2015 09:35

Thanks Wandymum. I called but all they would say is that DS had done really well in the tests and that the head would decide who got in from the reserve list next week and inform the admin team who to phone up. No hints re numbers on list or where he was or anything. Very friendly though!

Did you get useful feedback?

V useful thanks. DS's test scores were easily high enough to get in (they said he ranked about mid way through the boys who got offers) but he apparently 'struggled to follow instructions' at the assessment day. He's a total daydreamer so not surprised and makes me think he'd have struggled there had he got in. He's young for the year and just not mature enough socially yet.

Shouty.. Not long now. I am told by Monday lot of people will confirm either way.
I think a bit of more clarity would have been really helpful in these stressful times. I think all this wait has aged me by good 5 years.. I think by Monday you will know. I am accepting kcs tomorrow. Sorry I know not very helpful ..

shoutymcshoutsmum · 01/02/2015 14:54

That's amazing feedback Wandy! Do you think you'll reapply next year? Ps How did your DS react when you told him he wasn't moving this time?

If it helps one of students holding multiple offers will turn down kcjs.
Being on the waiting list is like no man's land, really tough not knowing. Hang in there x

Shouty - DS2 got in off the wait list at 7+. They only wait list boys who are up to the required standard and often these tend to be summer borns. They don't wait list that many so your situation is very hopeful!

As others have said, many boys who'll have received a KCJS offer this week will have got other offers and will turn one, two or more down - that's why all the schools need waiting lists!

The schools will have over offered but have to be careful not to over over offer. In DS1's year KCJS took an extra class because of this and went deep into the waiting list.

So phone the admission secretary (all the staff are lovely and completely professional) and make it clear KCJS is your first choice. I wouldn't expect a call before the acceptance deadline though. They'll wait until they know exactly what the situation is before phoning anyone. We were called 5 mins after the acceptance deadline had elapsed.

Best of luck to you and others who are fretting!

Has anyone heard whether kcjs has started making waiting list calls for 7+? Someone suggested that was the case this morning but sounded like it was hearsay. I am now panicking!

I was talking to a KCJS mum this morning. Apparently, they'll start calling up wait list candidates tomorrow. She said it has been all anyone has been talking about at the school gates as lots of siblings have been wait listed this year. Best of luck shouty!

shoutymcshoutsmum · 04/02/2015 10:28

thanks Wandymum
