Primary school information and advice York

We are currently living in Northern Ireland on Secondment and will be returning to Yorkshire at the end of the year. DS is in P1 here (English Reception year) and we are lucky to have relative flexibility as to when and where we move back to.

Ideally we would like to move to York on our return but the primary deciding factor regarding location, is schooling, we would prefer a good state primary but would be willing to look at fee paying schools too.

Any recommendations, experiences etc would be helpful

Anyone? I am particularly looking at The Minster School and at Bootham School. Any experiences?

DS will be entering Yr1 and DD Nursery.

It has all come about quite suddenly as we initially thought we would be staying in NI much longer

Go to watchsted website and click on lea and primary schools to give you an instant list of primary schools in york, current grades in each area and when they were last inspected for a 'quick' overview, but take ratings with a pinch of salt! You can always do the same for North yorkshire and look at villages just outside of york.
Minster and bootham have good records. Depends on wherabouts you will live and fees.

Ps: York is lovely. I live 20 miles south.
