How do i help DD trust her new friends?

My daughter was badly bullyied it juniour school and now in high school she is having some difficulty making good friends, she offers to spend time with people or walk home but these girls hide or make excuses - shes not over the top - but she doesnt find it eas to trust other girls and wont open up to her friends. I know others must feel like this and it would be good to speak up - shes just afraid of getting hurt. How can i help? She has no idea how to find one good friend.

I would get her to do lots of lunch time and after school clubs, so that she can hopefully team up with girls who have similar interest.

Would also suggest that she walks home "alone," but then teams up with people she meets en route. Not necessarily the same people every day. She doesn't want to come across as needy.

Is this her first term? I agree with the suggestion to do lots of clubs to meet new people. DD is now year 9 and has changed friendship groups a few times now simply due to new interests. As a result she knows lots of people but has had a few upsets too with one or two friends who she felt let down by and no doubt they may feel similarly about her.

Hi things are getting easier, whilst i understand her frustration at being dumped by kids, i have told her not to speak out at thesr girls and thereby cause friction or alienate possible relationships - this seems to be paying off - sone girls have tested the water eleswhere and are now gravitating back - fingers crossed - they all just want to be accepted.
