Applying for a school place

This is probably a really dim question but going to ask it anyway.

My council allows people to apply for a school place for reception from midnight tonight, I have been told that there are more children than places for the September 2015 intake in my area so I'm going to put down all 5 options and cross my fingers DD gets into one - do I need to sit up until midnight and apply as soon as website opens or can I do it at my leisure? I assumed that it wasn't a 'first come first served thing but am happy to be corrected.

No. It is based on the admission criteria for the schools. As long as you don't miss the deadline, it makes no difference when you apply Smile

There will be a closing date. You need to check the admissions rules for each school and your local authority.

No it's not. All are considered 'on time' and dealt with as per admission criteria (otherwise there wouldn't be one!) if in by Jan 15th.

Phew, I'm so glad I don't have to stay up!!!
Yes it's got to be in by Jan 15th so I've got plenty of time although ill do it tomorrow night.

Thanks all

Make sure you understand the admission criteria and good luck Smile
