Murderous maths

Does anyone know what sort of ability these are aimed at? Or does it not matter? Maths is ds favourite thing, he is in year 5 and working at level 6b in maths - will they be suitable?

We have this one. Most of it beyong my y5 DS but he had a good read of the first story and understood and liked it. I think they are good books.

Not really answering your question, am I? I pick them up if I see them in charity shops and leave them lying around so DC (yr 5 and yr 3) can have a look whenever they feel like it.

DS has the set. He is year 6, but has been reading them since at least year 4 (can't actually remember when I bought them). He still reads them in bed.

DS started reading them at Y3, not sure how much he understands but he loved the math stories at least, he still reads them all the time after a year. Highly recommended.

DS1 started reading them in Y5. He loved them and read every one, although reading wasn't his strong point. He has done very well in maths and is currently taking maths and further maths AS levels. I think the books helped inspire his love of maths, though it has always been his favourite subject.

Is it a set of maths or other subjects too? DS loves the number devil book.

They are like the Horrible Histories, or Horrible Science books but for maths, Nicename.

Mine enjoyed the Number Devil, too. Murderous Maths are even more accessible, I'd say, and at a similar level. (Much funnier )

Ahhh. I got some of the science and geog books 2 for a pound in Pound land.

DS in yr6 has read the first four. The remaining 2 or 3 seemed a bit advanced at the moment & he is considered good at maths.

I passed a cheap bookshop on my way into work and they had some! I took it as a sign and bought one for £1.99.

He had a read tonight and said that he preferred the science ones! He's got the geography ones too. They are great for our school commute!

Nicename IMO the history ones all require the same level of reading/educational ability. The maths ones (with a couple of exceptions) become increasingly difficult so don't necessarily leave it at just one.
