You need to be really, really realistic about which you have a decent chance of getting into first. Remember Thatcham is at absolute capacity for primary places. Are any of them your closest school? Do you satisfy the baptised catholic priority for St Finians?
I would say they are very different schools and it is a bit of a horses for courses. Equally I know people who have used them all and been happy.
Look carefully at the last admission distance for example Francis Bailey was only 0.4miles last year.

We are closest to Whitelands and went to see them today and I have got to say I was impressed. It's just that school has never had a good name.

St finians is one of my favourite schools I have seen so far and we are a Catholic family and not that far away although just out of catchment.

It's such a tough decision to make especially as I have done all the visits by myself so I haven't got anyone to talk it out with Confused
thank you so much for your help x

Our children attend St Finian's and we have been very pleased with the school. If you are Catholic and live in Thatcham and you have attended mass and the priest signs the application, you should have a good chance of getting a place but I guess it depends on how many people who are Catholic and live in Thatcham apply. There are children who are not Catholic who attend St Finian's as well.

Hi,
My little girl is starting school next September too and I've had a very stressful time and many sleepless nights deciding which school to apply for. We're in the catchment are for Parsons Down and Spurcroft. Anyone that might know about these two? I always thought Parsons was a very good school but I wasn't so sure about it when I visited, I'm not sure if it was just my imagination and I don't know anyone that could give me a bit more info about the school.
Please any help will be appreciated

I'd like to bump this thread as I'm about to relocate to Thatcham and would love to hear about the local primaries. Thanks.
