Hi all I'm new to this, looking for ways I could help my son at home with literacy, I've looked online and can't really find anything, he reads every night, so any ideas which I could help him would be appreciated Lynsey

Do you ask him questions about what he is reading? Not just in terms of regurgitating what he has read, but looking at "What might X be feeling now?" or "Why do you think X did that?" type questions. To help with writing I sometimes I ask mine "If you were to write that part of the story what words could you use instead?" e.g. if story said '.... Jane said'. Then they could say "Jane whispered/shouted, said excitedly" etc.
