My DD changed schools this week and her new teacher noted in her reading diary that she's on Orange Books, apparently the school uses the Cliff Moon colour coding scheme which I've never heard about. At her previous school she bringing home White ORT stage 10 books. She's in yr 2.

Does anyone know what this Cliff Moon system is? Thanks!

just looked it up and I think that orange is the equivalent of 9 so gold. one below white/10.

I could be wrong though. what book has she brought home? does it look about the right level?

of course schools could use any colour they want - ours uses the same colours as normal book bands but in a different order...

Thanks, they look simpler and shorter than the one we're used to. I guess I'll have to ask her teacher, I'm curious.

At home she's reading the Roald Dahl books now, just finished The Twits and she's reading George The Marvellous Medicine. But at home she is free to read whatever she wants from her book shelf.

well the school are probably trying a bit lower so they can see how she gets on, I think the teachers normally like to see for themselves not just trust other schools (if they have even had records through). I would just have a word explaining what she was reading at her last school, what she is reading at home and see what they say. Or if she has a record diary thing to fill in then you could put a note in there.

Thanks, I gave the teacher copies of her Reception & yr 1 end of school reports and also her yr 2 reading diary and test booklet (they had spelling and Maths tests each Friday).
