LYME REGIS schools

hello all, i have an opportunity to move me and my 2 and a half year old DD to lyme regis. i know the town a bit but know nothing of the schools. could anyone give me an idea of whether it is the place to be, and which primary - and beyond- to think about. state, preferably, but i am always happy to hear of independents/ privates in case my financial circs. change soon! xx

I don't know the schools but just came to say lucky you moving to Lyme!

Have you ever seen the 'Ofsted data dashboard'? It's a nice little tool that gives you a quick clear overview of a school's performance.

We often go to Charmouth and there is a lovely looking primary school virtually ON the beach there which I can't help thinking would be idyllic- popping down to the beach to collect driftwood for art etc. However, the academic performance is pretty dire!!

Hopefully somebody will be along more useful information.

I don't know anything about the primaries in the area but good secondaries. Probably in catchment for Colyton grammar. The nearest independent would probably be Perrott Hill but might be wrong. Lovely area.
