Mine would too Elephants. But might be that there are difficulties at school with hiring a regular and frequent tutor for year 5.

I'm guessing poster has her reasons.

Our Y5/6 teacher was pretty reasonable, DD2 got very lucky with her class, the top table had the right kind of friendly rivalry to encourage each other and some of their peers.

Her very shy DF did have 30 minutes or so maths tutoring a week, which did her confidence a world of good.

Dd1 y5

Monday - ballet
Tuesday - netball
wednesday - swim squad
thursday - piano, violin and flute lessons
friday - tap and modern
Sat - tap
sun - free

Has homework 3 times a week but lots of music practice required. She used to go to music school (ja) but we made her give it up as we felt she had too much on and needed a day off...

My DD is Y5.
HW is 15 spellings & refresh all times tables for weekly tests. Read at least 5 minutes a night, adult listening regularly. Then 3 or 4 worksheets/pages from Maths/English workbooks. Given out Friday, back in on Weds (which is when the tests are too.)

On top of this she has violin practise daily (lesson is in school time), graphic design club after school and then Cubs on a Weds, and netball club after school and then local music centre orchestra on a Thursday.
By sheer luck, these are the 2 nights that are guaranteed free from homework!
