Hi there
In the process of re-locating to trafford. 2 dc's that are already in school. Looking at independent schools as a back up in case, we don't get state.. Just wondering what people thought of forest park, sale and Abbotsford in urmston. These are the two only schools that seem to have place for both my kids.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I believe that I am very qualified to give you an opinion as I too was choosing between Forest and Abbotsford this time last year. We live in Sale, so Forest was the natural choice but after visiting Abbotsford, the whole family knew instantly that it was the perfect choice. Despite it not being our closest prep, we have chosen to send our daughter to Abbotsford. Abbotsford has amazing facilities which it uses fully to enhance the children's learning and experiences. There is a dedicated science room equipped to a level which one would normally only find for children linked to a senior school, the indoor gymnasium is huge and is used inventively for different sessions and because of a separate dining room, does not have to be used for mealtimes. Right from pre-school the pupils are able to use the music room, library and IT suite (with PCs and iPads). The school really feels like a mini senior school with all the learning opportunities that are available. I am so pleased with how friendly and welcoming the whole school is, from the head teacher to the office staff, you are really made to feel welcome. The head has been around every morning greeting the new children and even joining in with the free Wake up Shake up session. From 8.30 you are allowed to drop your children off without any charges for additional sessions. This makes the whole morning routine much more flexible and relaxed as you have a 30 minute window in which to do drop off. Everything is geared around the children and their happiness and learning, rather than for the benefit of the staff. The teaching and results are also excellent. There is a 2009 Inspection report available on the ISI website which was very good, but the latest one, which the parents have had a copy of and is about to be published is exceptional and really reiterates what all the parents know and feel about the school. Good luck with your relocating and I can assure you that if you choose Abbotsford you will not regret it.
