Birthday parties in Reception

Hi just posting for opinions really. DS has his birthday in a few weeks, we've already organised a softplay party with friends from nursery - looks like there'll be at least 15 attending already and it's paid per head Confused!

So I've decided not to invite any of his new class (apart from the ones he already knew from nursery and wanted to invite). But we've just received an invitation for a whole class party! One of the other parents commented how nice that was and we could all get to know each other. Our funds truly wouldn't stretch to that, but am I going to be committing some awful class etiquette faux pas by restricting numbers? What would you think if this happened in your child's class?
Any thoughts welcome x

No one will know Wink

I would do exactly as you have planned.

I wouldn't worry if my son wasn't invited to a party. Everyone was invited to his in reception, but he wasn't invited to everyone else's in return and I honestly didn't expect him to be. Everyone wants to do things differently and that's fine.

Don't worry about it, just carry on with the plan you had.

you do what you want to do not what other people are doing. Parties are always hard but even harder right at the start of the year when they don't know people. We haven't had whole class parties although the children have been to them. don't worry - your plans sound fine.

Thanks for the reassurance! It is hard, I think his is the first birthday in the class as well.
