That really. School don't supply them, you can buy them. But would a rucksack do the job?

I would get a book bag if they sell them, at DS's school all the book bags are piled up together in a cage drawer thing that fits them and it is where teachers put everything - they have so many kids in the class a rucksack would probably be mistaken for a pe bag or similar and things would go astray! However this is based on DS's achool, ALL the kids have book bags.

Our school has said no books bags....

Our school has said it's a must, they sell them.

Our school requires book bags because they fit in the trays in the classroom. Rucksacks strictly for sports kit.

our school doesnt use them at all

what do your school want them to use Iggly? they can't say nothing surely, what about child who wears glasses or for reading books/letters etc?

Ours say book bags for R and Yr1 but in reality a lot of the parents in R had the school rucksack and then in Yr1 nearly all of them had a rucksack. The bookbags stack in boxes/drawers much more easily.

DD1 had a book bag in R and moved to rucksack in Yr1, DD2 I just went straight for the rucksack. that way I could get lunchboxes in them as well.

we got a free book bag from the school

Iggly · 31/08/2014 23:52

We've been told to get rucksacks instead!

at my dc's school yes definitely. They don't have any other bags. (apart from PE Kit) my kids are going into reception and year 1 and all letters, party invites notes from teacher etc as well as books and reading journal come and go through the book bags. They get placed all together during the day in a tray so having all the same is easier for everyone.

I'm sure at some point they'll have bags but not needed yet

I am all for book bags as I didn't use to care and let my DS use a rucksack half way through last year. I noticed that he kept forgetting his spelling/homework/letters and eventually found out that this was because his rucksack doesn't fit in his tray in the classroom and he has to hang it on a peg outside. After going back to using a book bag, there were no more forgotten school stuff Smile but that is just my opinion as my DS can be quite forgetful.
