I wonder if there is anything extra special I need to do to help her prepare for the beginning of term?

Only the same as any previous year, I would have thought. And if school had wanted anything special, they should have informed you at the end of term.

If her Report suggested any 'weaknesses', she could concentrate on those if she feels like doing some work, I guess. Read plenty of books - story and non-fiction - and maybe keep a holiday diary, which should impress the new teacher! But most of all, relax and have an enjoyable holiday!

Make sure uniform and PE kit etc still fits, and have it to hand before start of term, so no last minute panics!

Knowing all her times tables would help!!

My DD has just finished year 5 and I would say the same as spanieleyes about learning her times tables.
You might find the playground chatter will start about 11+ tests and secondary schools too

I visited all the potential secondary schools in autumn to get ideas and research into each may be dc's schools. Find out about 11+ or transport time, distance , costs etc. Also you may want to visit again once or twice more.

dd starts year 5 too.
She had an excellent report, with one dig about how she should know her times tables by now. (maths is her best subject0

Sp we have been working on it without being too pressured.

and yes we will be visiting secondary schools in sept. (11+ area)
