Story writing Competitions/publishes . where I can send my Sons stories to?

My D's age 9 has written a fabulous short story, he has an amazing imagination and would love to send it in to any short story comps. Does anyone know where I should start?

How about the BBC '500 words competition?'. You would probably have to wait until next January to enter, as this years competition is over.
