Just seen some Hello Kitty school uniform at my local Asda...looks lovely but not sure how it will go down in the playground. Has anyone bought it?

I think it would be very popular with the younger children perhaps not in KS2

Toohotforfishandchips · 28/07/2014 19:00

I wouldn't as I don't think it's appropriate for school clothes. I also think it's totally the wrong direction to go in. I really do not want to be having an argument next year over Spider-Man / superhero or what ever branded uniform

TheEnchantedForest · 30/07/2014 17:17

It wouldn't be allowed at our school. Check the uniform policy before buying it.
I would hate for school uniform to go down the branded route personally though I'm sure some of the children would like it!

really?

Nope! Plain grey skirts only here.

It's available in plain gret version with a belt

MumTryingHerBest · 30/07/2014 18:00

Each to their own. However, I wouldn't buy the one with the belt as it might take ages to iron in order to keep the creases in the pleats sharp.

mrz · 30/07/2014 18:08

Lots of my class wear similar but with daisy or heart belts which must be last year's thing

Gileswithachainsaw · 30/07/2014 18:14

I actually like it Blush

Think it looks subtle enough tbh

DefiniteMaybe · 30/07/2014 18:16

I saw these and was tempted as dd loves Hello kitty. I decided against them though because they were more expensive.

mrz · 30/07/2014 18:24

I liked the jersey pinafore with the Hello Kitty lining

Adikia · 30/07/2014 18:36

Its not allowed in either of my DC's schools (the skirts mrz describes aren't allowed either, they can wear plain belts if they actually need them to keep their trousers/skirt up but no decorative belts).

It's a shame as I think DD would love hello kitty uniform.

£5 for a polo shirt she will spill dinner on/paint/poke with a felt tip. Shock although she has asked nicely for one!

MumTryingHerBest · 30/07/2014 20:01

blueberryboybait £5 for a polo shirt she will spill dinner on/paint/poke with a felt tip. I pay £8 per polo shirt for my DCs (mind you school colour and logo embroidered) so £5 would be a bargain to me lol

blueberryboybait · 30/07/2014 20:36

Aah, at our school infants only need a logo polo for photo day and Mass days and at £10.50 each they have 1each! When they go into juniors they need a logo polo or logo shirt and tie. I assume they know they likelihood of mess is less with juniors.

Heels99 · 30/07/2014 22:36

Bought some for my dds last year. Won't be buying more this year as the hello kitty novelty wore off and they weren't bothered so not worth extra money

Soggysandpit · 31/07/2014 07:57

Wouldn't be allowed at my daughter's school but even if it was, no way would I buy it. setting a precedent.

Heels99 · 31/07/2014 08:14

Setting a precedent for what?

hellokittymania · 31/07/2014 08:16

I like it. Grin

As a teacher, my biggest gripe is manufacturers that make dresses and pinafores so straight the poor girls can't get them on or off without help. So at least it looks like the zip in the Asda one goes down far enough.

mrz · 31/07/2014 09:17

I liked fact that it's jersey so should have some stretch and easy wash

Setting a precedent for wanting character stuff on all their clothes with the associated ripoff prices

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/08/2014 20:17

Hardly Confused

If they survived to five with the odd character top then they can cope the rest of the time.

Dd likes monster high. Doesn't demand all her clothes have it on them
