Have gone a few visits down the line and almost settled my kids into a school a good drive away, and all the way through this have been on the verge of being a single parent which it seems I now am. Painful break up after 19 years. Its nearly the summer holidays and obv they want a decision but I am not sure as my circumstanes have now changed and I have no idea if I can work/live near they school or if the whole thing will work for us.i don't want to unsettle the school or my kids and feel under pressure to make a rash decision!.

Do you mean your children will start school there in Sept or they already attend this school? If holidays haven't started at the school, I assume this is state and not independent?

If it is a state school and you haven't accepted a place there, you need to be aware that if someone else comes along who fits the admission criteria they will give the places to them, so you could end up with no school. What is your alternative school if your dc don't attend tis one?

I have to disagree a little with the previous answer. If you have been offered a place but have not accepted it by the deadline the admission authority is required to contact you again and give you a further chance to respond. They cannot just take the place away and offer it to someone else. But there will come a point where you have to decide or lose the place.

If there is no offer as yet you need to get on and apply. In that situation the school must offer any places available to anyone who applies. They can't hold places back for you.

Must admit I thought from the wording of the OP that places had been offered and the school are pushing for a decision because some time has passed? But yes it's not really clear what the exact situation here is. Maybe the OP can clarify?
