moving to hitchin school appeal advice..............

hello every one

can anybody please advice.i am moving to hitchin from bedford. my son has been rejected place in our preferred schools. instead given place in school 1.5 miles away due to my medical and social needs its impossible to go that far i am appealing against it . the school i wish for has PAN of 38 can you please advice how do i find out weather they have exceed the number in previous years.??? any help is much appreciated.

The first place I would look is on the school website as they frequently say who the class teacher is and how many pupils.
The next best source of information is local parents.
If that fails then you ask the Local Authority to provide that information. They should certainly be providing that information for the appeal in terms of actual numbers across the school but they do tend not to give out information on the maximum number of pupils that have previously been in any year group.
The school with a PAN of 38 means that it is very very unlikely to be an infant class size appeal. A lot will depend on the number of pupils in each class as that number is a really awkward number to work with. However you need to build your case on the personal reasons for needing the school. Your medical and social needs will obviously be a significant part of the appeal but I would also look to trying to find other reasons such as after school clubs that child can go to etc.
