Can we vote? Keep spelling reform and phonics discusssions separate?

Often threads discussing phonics teaching / phonics testing seem to get muddled up with discussions on spelling reform.

I completely agree that there are a lot of inconsistencies in English spelling. (I blame Dr Johnson and his dictionary for that. Also fact that we have liberally acquired words from various places, Latin, Greek, Indian etc). However that doesn't help parents trying to help their child.

Anyway, I was wondering, could we on this forum agree to keep these discussions separate? So parents who want to ask about phonics can do so without long lists their threads going off topic onto spelling reform. And likewise, those who want to discuss spelling reform can do so with any other interested parties, without getting tied up by details like what schools are currently asked to teach?

What do you think?
