Hello All,

My DS starts reception next year sept and we have been looking for all round private schools in north west of London i.e. Harrow / Pinner / Stanmore / Northwood / Watford etc.

Has anyone heard about these 2 private prep schools - Stanborough in Watford and York House School in Rickmansworth?

Do you or you know anyone has kids in these schools and any help on reviews of these 2 schools would be of great help.

A lot of threads have info on Manor Lodge School / Radlett prep ... but there are no threads or info on these 2 schools.

Thanks.

Helloo netmums..

Any info on these schools would be of great help.

Also, I have read quite a few threads which give info on Reddiford / Manor Lodge / Radlett / Orley Farm etc.

Our preference is an 'all -round' school for our DS and not a academic school really.

Orley Farm is one of the schools we have shortlisted, but its difficult to get into. Raddiford/ Quainton / Alpha Prep / Holland House / Radlett - are all academic schools as far as I can see and understand...

(I might be wrong - still a newbie in this schooling world)

St Martins / Northwood prep - all spaces except 1 are already filled by nursery population...

Habs for boys is 5+...

So consdering all the above - we are hardly left with any schools... please help and your views / advice / your personal experience would be of great help for us to take an informed decision.

Cheers

Have you thought about the Royal Masonic School for girls in Rickmansworth, Little St Helens in Northwood, www.charlottehouseprepschool.co.uk/ in Rickmansworth?

Hi adp73... thanks and sorry that was a typo... I am very new to Mumsnet and thus...

I am looking for a c-ed school really... have a son who is 3.5 yrs old... all the schools you have mentioned are 'girls only' ... do let me know if you recommend or have any info for co-ed independent schools as per my msg above.

I know people who have children at York House, and they seem happy with it. They all do seem a particular "type" of person, though. It sounds quite competitive - the children certainly are.

I have several close friends who looked at it, and discounted it. They ended up in Northwood Prep, Westbrook Hay (near Hemel - parents are very happy with it) and some single sex preps in Gerrards Cross.
