Please can you tell me if you've had any newly fluent readers (red bananas) with average or above average attainment in everything else, fail the recent phonics test (31)?

dd1 1st year phonics test coched and got 39/40
reading score tyear 1 1b.
start year 2 was on level 3 ort,

end year 2 got 2b reading

beig good at phonics dident help her reading
as she passed phonics test all extra help whent to kids who failed it.

not all kids learn read though phonics.

Well 1b is where you would expect an average child to be at the end of Y1 and 2b is where most children are expected to be at the end of Y2 so it seems phonics has worked and certainlyhasn't harmed her learning 3asAbird

Can i ask what type of ORT they used?

Whether taught explicitly or not we can't read or write without phonics 3asAbird it's that simple
